Festival History


The festival "Dances of uniting Europe" is a dance competition for children and young people
from the region of Lodz. The idea of the Festival was born in 2002, during the Polish efforts
to join the European Union structures.
The aim of the Festival is to understand cultural diversity by teaching regional and national
dances of Poland and Europe.


Festival History


I edition
The first edition took place on 23 May 2003. Participation in the finals of the 10 schools.
Ultimately, the contest was attended by four schools: two middle schools and two primary
schools.
In accordance to the rules of the competition it was only open to the middle schools and
students from fifth and sixth classes in primary schools. In this edition, each team participated
in three competitions: Polish dance, dance, and European artists of European culture. The jury
sat Ewa Czerska - methodologies for physical education, Mrs. Beatrice Rubinkowska - dance
instructor, and Mr. Janusz Ślizień - dance instructor.


Second edition
The second edition of the festival was held on April 23, 2004. Admittance in the contest 21
schools. This time we took part in the final nine outlets: two secondary schools, two middle
schools, four elementary schools and one kindergarten. In this edition has been substantially
revised rules. With the competition eliminated competition in knowledge about the artists
of European culture. The amendments also allow for the competition teams from high
schools. The jury sat Ewa Czerska - methodologies for physical education, Mrs. Beatrice
Rubinkowska - dance instructor, and Mr. Janusz Ślizień - dance instructor.


Third edition
The third edition of the festival took place on 20 May 2005. In this edition of the finals were
12 outlets: three secondary schools, two middle schools, six elementary schools and one
kindergarten. In this edition of the contest were invited schools from around the Lodz region.
To the jury were invited Ms. Dorota Markowska and Mrs. Alexandra Sowińska - dance
instructor.
Fourth edition

The fourth edition of the festival was held on 12 May 2006, this time at the Youth Palace. The
finale was attended by eight schools: two middle schools and six elementary schools. Final
of this edition was preceded by a dance workshop for teachers. Workshops are free of charge.
Their sponsor was the Warsaw School of Leaders Association. The jury sat Ewa Czerska -
methodologies for physical education, Mrs. Beatrice Rubinkowska - dance instructor, and Mr.
Janusz Ślizień - dance instructor.
V Edition

The fifth edition of the festival took place on 30 May 2007 at the Youth Palace. Came to the
final 12 schools: two secondary schools, 5 middle schools, 5 elementary schools.
VI edition

Final fourth edition of the festival took place on 15 May 2008 at the Palace of Youth. To
share reported for 16 schools in the Lodz region. Finally, in the final eight schools took part -
3 secondary schools and 5 primary schools. In total, 80 participants experienced 14 prepared
by teachers. Awards were given in two categories: primary and secondary education. All the winners, participants and caregivers teams were awarded prizes.


The seventh edition
In the 2008/2009 school year was held on the seventh edition of the festival. The organizer of
the contest was the Foundation for Education and Development of Civil Society and first No.
17 Middle School in Lodz.
